Case study: GovPrint

One print network across government

How staff from 39 government organisations print on each other's devices every day, with no VPN and no inbound connections.

39organisations roaming
99routes between them
186Kpages a month away from base

January 2025 to August 2026

The challenge

GovPrint members are separate organisations, with separate tenants, users and devices. Civil servants move between buildings and departments, and need to print wherever they are, without IT tickets or guest accounts.

What Cirros did

  • One shared print service, delivered by the Government Property Agency and running on Cirros
  • Zero trust by design: outbound HTTPS only, with every user, device and printer authenticated independently
  • No VPN, no print servers, no network between buildings and no holes in firewalls
  • Staff badge in at any GovPrint device, tap release and collect their documents

The result

Between January 2025 and August 2026, cross-organisation printing grew from 15 organisations on 27 routes to 39 organisations on 99 routes. Around 186,000 pages a month are now printed by staff away from their home organisation, with nothing to configure.
