Case study: central government

MHCLG moves 18 sites to GovPrint

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government rolled out GovPrint, the shared print service that runs on Cirros, across 18 locations in 2025.

18MHCLG locations

The challenge

MHCLG wanted efficient, sustainable printing for staff who work across many government buildings, including ones where the department has no printers of its own, and without running its own print procurement.

What changed

  • GovPrint rolled out across 18 MHCLG locations during 2025, and to several arm's length bodies
  • Staff print in any government building that uses GovPrint, with the same familiar screens
  • Uncollected jobs are deleted automatically, saving paper

The result

MHCLG avoided a costly procurement of its own and reduced its printer fleet, even as it expanded where staff can print. Across GovPrint, printers that are no longer needed are returned and reused elsewhere in government.
